First United Methodist Church
Orange, Texas

First United Methodist Church in Orange sought a way to preserve and expand its facilities simultaneously. It needed renovation of the historic, 1921 sanctuary, as well as additional administrative offices, choir space and a new multiple use structure. The Master Plan renovated three floors of the historic 1921 sanctuary building, with new administrative offices on the ground floor, a gathering center and choir robing rooms on the main sanctuary level, and a hand-bell choir loft and storage space on the third floor. In addition, it provided a new 45,000-square-foot, multipurpose facility featuring education space for all ages, a fellowship hall, a full commercial kitchen and a contemporary worship/fine arts theater with tiered seating and full stage. In addition, the plan provided a complete youth center with gymnasium, recreation room and fitness room. Site development included renovated parking and a prayer garden/columbarium.
