Grace Fellowship
United Methodist Church
Katy, Texas
As a result of tremendous growth in the Cinco Ranch/West Houston Area, the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church appointed a pastor to form a new church in the area in May 1996 and provided start-up funds. Within a year Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church matured, was chartered and purchased 12.5 acres of land adjacent to the leased facilities currently being used. Programming and Master Planning services for an eight-building complex to be built in four phases were initiated and included the following: a 1000-seat sanctuary, a fellowship hall to seat 330 at tables with a kitchen and large meeting room, a chapel for 200, an administration building, a children's education building, a youth/adult education building, a gymnasium, and a large welcome center to serve as the main entrance with a library and bookstore. The worship center included a nursery and music department. Site development entailed parking, three covered drop offs, playing fields and a large, central courtyard. It was determined that the church's commitment to families required that a building for the children be built first and would include a two-story, indoor Noah's Ark play area.
Completed: 2003
