Joy Lutheran Church
Richmond, Texas
In response to the church’s space/facility needs, Joy Lutheran Church retained HBL Architects in 2003 to provide programming and Master Planning Services for its existing three-acre site. This active ministry outpost extended a welcoming 350-seat sanctuary designed to accommodate contemporary as well as traditional worship experiences in the Pecan Grove area. An inviting entrance canopy and access along FM 359 opened the congregation to the community. The Master Plan provided an education building housing both an indoor play area for preschoolers and a large youth gathering room. The plan incorporated the existing building by changing the function of space as needed. The proposed facility provides this lively, friendly congregation with ample space for interaction and ministry. The first phase included the worship space and a fellowship hall connected by a flexible gathering area and kitchen. An addition to the existing building also provided space for a nursery and preschool area.
