	FIRM PROFILE
	Our firm was started in 1966 by William W. Hall, Jr.. There are currently ten staff members at Hall Barnum Lucchesi Architects: six registered architects, two architectural interns, an office manager and a bookkeeper. We currently have several active projects in various stages from master planning to post-construction warranty. These projects range in construction size from under one hundred thousand dollars up to almost forty million dollars. Most projects at our firm are in the two to five million dollar range. COMPREHENSIVE EXPERIENCE The firm's professionals have extensive experience in a wide range of project types. Since much of our work involves additions and renovations, we are familiar with the design, technical, code and scheduling issues involved in renovating existing buildings and tying old and new structures together. Projects such as Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Friendswood, St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston, and First United Methodist Church in Orange demonstrate the firm's design versatility and ability to sensitively integrate new additions in a variety of styles. Projects like Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station, Robishaw Engineering Office Building in Houston, Katy Family YMCA in Katy, the La Porte Community Library in La Porte, and the Missouri City Fire Stations No. 3 and No. 4 are examples of completely new facilities. We have developed expertise in planning and designing the adaptive reuse of an existing facility in projects like the Friendswood Library (originally an office building), the restoration of the 1878 Thompson & Co. Building in Galveston (converted to retail spaces), and the Missouri City Public Safety Headquarters Building (formerly a supermarket). The firm also has expertise in historical restoration and repairs. Several projects have required working closely with the Texas Historical Commission. Twice our projects have received Good Brick Awards from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. The first award, in 1994, was for the additions and renovations to Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston. The second award, in 1997, was for the restoration of the Sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church. Our work has been recognized with awards from AIA Houston and the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board. More importantly, our work has served our clients well! Recent projects involve the design of over $70 million worth of space for both public and private entities. INTERIOR DESIGN CAPABILITES HBLA has full interior design capability and has provided full interior and graphic design services for our projects. Interior and graphic designs are an integral part of our design approach and will receive the attention of the entire design team. Engineering and Consulting Services Engineering services provided by capable and experienced firms on a consulting basis include structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design. As necessary and requested by the client, we will retain specialty consultants such as landscape architecture, civil engineering, acoustical design, and lighting design. Energy-conserving Building Design Techniques Of equal importance with meeting clients' budgets is the design of buildings which are efficient to operate and maintain. By designing buildings which are compatible with their environments, we enable our clients to reduce energy and upkeep costs over the entire life of the buildings. To that end, we have on our staff two LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals and one in the process of preparing for accreditation. SCHEDULE ADHERENCE We are able to adhere to even the most aggressive schedules by coordinating all disciplines of the project from our office. All team members, including consultant engineers, are kept aware of milestone reviews and final deadlines through a continual review and coordination process conducted by the project manager/principal-in-charge. COST CONTROL HBLA has established an excellent track record in meeting clients' schedules and budgets. We begin the budget tracking process during the programming phase and update the budget estimate in each phase of work to reflect refinements in design and changes in scope. We utilize input from qualified contractors in preparing budgets, along with our own historical data. HISTORY OF THE FIRM Hall Barnum Lucchesi Architects is the outgrowth of the firm that William W. Hall, Jr., president of HBLA, started in 1966. He formed a partnership, Hall-McGuff Architects, in 1968, and this firm successfully practiced until 1983 when Hall Architects was established. Hall Architects became Hall/Merriman Architects in 1988 and was recognized in both 1991 and 1992 as one of Houston's 100 fastest growing companies. Hall/Barnum Architects was formed as a successor firm to Hall/Merriman Architects on July 1, 1993. It was the merger of the succession of the Hall firms and the Barnum firms. Daniel B. Barnum, after serving as vice president and chief architect of Hedrick Architects and Engineers for several years, started his own firm, Daniel Barnum Architects, in 1977. He was a partner in Environment Associates Architects and Consultants from 1986 until the forming of Hall/Barnum Architects. On January 1, 2001 Hall/Barnum Architects became Hall Barnum Lucchesi Architects with the addition of Stephen A. Lucchesi as a name principal. Steve has been a member of the firm since 1988. Bill Hall specializes in design, programming and project administration. Dan Barnum specializes in design, planning and environmental issues. Steve Lucchesi has extensive experience in master planning, renovations/additions and new building projects. The principals combined have over 90 years of experience in producing quality projects for liturgical, educational, institutional, commercial, and residential clients.
