Building landmarks
is an honor.

Our work has been recognized with awards for both the firm and individual team members. More importantly, our work has served our clients well. Recent projects involve the design of more than $70 million worth of space for both public and private entities.

College of Fellows (FAIA)

Dan Barnum, a vice president at HBL Architects, is a member of the prestigious College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects (AIA). This is an honor held by less than three percent of his professional peers. Fellowship is awarded to AIA members with at least 10 years of membership in the AIA who have made contributions of national significance in architecture, education, building, the environment or public service.

Good Brick Awards

Twice our projects have received Good Brick Awards from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. The first award, in 1994, was for additions and renovations to Trinity Episcopal Church in Houston. The second award, in 1997, was for restoration of the Sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Outstanding Construction Award

In the short time since the 2008 completion of HBL’s design for Christ the Redeemer Church, Fretz Construction Company has won an Outstanding Construction Award for the project.

Award for Architecture

In 1986, the Cutler Farmhouse Project received the Award for Architecture from AIA Houston.

AIA Houston

Our work has been recognized with awards from AIA Houston and the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board.

Workplace Flexibility Award

HBL Architects has twice consecutively received the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. The award recognizes organizations that are using workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results.
