Experience:

Bill, a native Houstonian, is President of HBL Architects. He has more than 40 years of architecture experience. His expertise is in design, construction technology and management of a wide range of religious, commercial and institutional facilities. One of his projects, the Cutler Farmhouse, received the 1986 Award for Architecture from AIA Houston.

Professional/Community:

Bill was president of AIA Houston in 1986 and served as a director of the Texas Society of Architects in 1988 and 1989. A founding member of the Houston Architecture Foundation, he served as vice president in 1993. His other endeavors include being a professional mentor for the University of Houston’s College of Architecture, a business partner in education with the Houston Independent School District and an advisory board member of the Interfaith Coalition on Energy.

A fourth generation member of First Presbyterian Church, Bill has served on the Session in the Worship Ministry, in the Support Ministry as chairman of the Property Committee, and in the Permanent Funds Ministry. He served a 6-year term on the Extension Committee of the Presbytery of New Covenant. Presently, he is a member of the Finance Committee for the Presbytery of the New Covenant. As a cancer survivor, he is a certified volunteer for CanCare, a cancer support network representing the First Presbyterian Church. Currently, he is President of the CanCare Board of Representatives as a member of the Board of Directors.
